Berlin? Köln? Leipzig? Nein, Rudolstadt! Hier findet jeden Sommer das größte deutsche Festival für Roots, Folk und Weltmusik statt. Vier Tage, 300 Auftritte, 130 Bands und Solokünstler aus über 30 Ländern. Täglich kommen bis zu 25.000 Besucher zu den Konzerten, zu Workshops, Talks, Ausstellungen, zur Verleihung des deutschen Weltmusikpreises RUTH oder dem großen Kinderfest.
Das Festival beginnt jedes Jahr am ersten Donnerstag im Juli und dauert vier Tage. 2018 geht es vom 5. bis 8. Juli über die mehr als 20 Bühnen. Dabei steht Estland diesmal besonders im Blickpunkt, aber natürlich gehört zu dem vielfältigen Programm wieder Musik aus allen Kontinenten: nordischer Folk, klassische indische Traditionen, US-Country-Rock, Avantgarde aus Beirut, spanische Fusion Sounds, Club Culture zwischen Balkan und Latin Beats.

Rudolstadt Festival is Germany’s foremost festival of roots, folk and world music. Held in the central region of Thuringia, it’s also one of the top world music festivals in Europe.
Every year, over 20 stages and podiums at the festival host around 300 concerts as well as workshops and discussions. All in all, performances are given by more than 130 bands from over 30 countries.
Rudolstadt Festival takes place annually from the first Thursday in July until the following Sunday and attracts up to 25,000 people daily. From 5 to 8 July 2018, we will be celebrating the 28th edition, the programme will spotlight Estonia.
